“Bai Ming- Painting and Ceramics Exhibition”

In early July 2014, along the Champs Elysees of Paris, you could see advertisements, bursting with oriental artistry. Chinese artists, Mr. Bai Ming held a solo exhibition at the Musee Cernuschi and the notice of this exhibition was for all to see. On July 10, 2014, French, Chinese and many more art lovers attended Bai’s month long exhibition.
 
Mr. Bai Ming, the Director of Department of Ceramic Design at Academy of Arts and Design in Tsinghua University, has formed his own personal and unique style in ceramic design over the years. He paid close attention to traditional craftsmanship and integrated it with contemporary art techniques, expression, geometric composition, brushwork, abstract colors as well as composition that are bold and energetic in their layout. His work reflects traditional Chinese ceramics design with strong influences from Japanese ceramic in terms of shape and decoration. His work have been exhibited abroad and gained great attention from the international art world.
 
Mr. Bai Ming’s solo exhibition commemorates the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and France. The 18 ceramic works and 8 Chinese paintings reflect the thought and creation process as well as his artistic evolution during his 30 year-long career. His works, although contemporary carry with it distinctive traditional and oriental charm.
 
Asian Art Museum in Paris is one of the world’s most famous Asian art museums. In 1993, Mr. Wu Guanzhong’s exhibition was held there and in 2000, 2003 and 2013, three exhibitions of Chinese art treasures and works were also held. Mr. Bai Ming marks the first Chinese homegrown artist to have an exhibition in Paris. This show the appreciation and attention Chinese artists are gaining from their international peers. At the same time of this exhibition, stamps showing Mr. Bai Ming’s works were also issued. This along with lecturers allows art enthusiasts to understand and find their own creative ideas and style.
